So you want to play guitar?
Want to be a big rock god and have screaming fans?
Well the best place to start is the beggining. And belive me if you want to play guitar you gota be fucking dedicated. I Spend roughly... 2-3hrs a day playing guitar. But thats just me, everyone has there own way of playing and practicing. So where to start? For me tablutare was my beggining. BUT that only sparked my inspiration to start playing. Chords are the major thing you MUST learn. Also learning the string names is a big factor for translating music from piano to guitar so lets start at that.
Your guitar has 6 strings. Each String has its own note.
In standard E tuning (Most guitars are tuned to this and its essential for begginers) The strings from bottom (thin string) to top (fat string) are: E B G D A E or from top to bottom E A D G B E. Easter Bunnys Get Drunk At Easter OR Eat A Dish of Green Brussel Eggplants.
So lets show this in a diagram
This is your guitar
Thin
E----------------------- - The six strings of your guitar
B-----------------------
G-----------------------
D-----------------------
A-----------------------
E-----------------------
Thick
Righto. Next up is reading music and tabluture.
Tabluture can go first,
In Tabluture (Tabs) the melody is laid out on a guitar format similar to the diagram above. Then in a order numbers are placed on a string or numerous strings. *Numbers represent frets on your guitar*
Heres a example.
Note: The fat string (E) on your guitar is down the bottom of the tabluture with A above it. *Its your guitar upside-down really*
"Smoke On the Water"
E---------------------------------------------
B---------------------------------------------
G---------------------------------------------
D---------------------------------------------
A----------------------------------------------
E--0--3--5----0--3--6-5----0--3--5--3--0
So this tab tells us, 1. The whole song is played on the fat string. The 0 means we play a "Open" (No frets should be held down). The 3 means we should put our finger on the 3rd fret of the E string. And the Five means the fiifth fret on the E string. See its hard at first but as you study itll get much much easier.
Now now. Its time for a step up. Did you think that was hard? This is by far the hardest thing of guitar playing. Reading music!
Not many guitarists know how to read music, which is a shame, But for guitarists it is not a essential component anymore with the realease of tabs.
Still it is require you know the basics.
This is the notes... On the lines are, Every Good Boy Deserves Fruit. And in the spaces are F A C E. Face as in . So remember these and youve got Reading music down. Its kinda like tab now to think of it. Exept instead of numbers you have Quavers and things. Dont worry about quavers and that mumbo jumbo. Quavers look like this
But like i said dont worry about them. If you want you can look at a full song at: www.english.ourcabana.org/images/music_sheet.jpg
